James Short
James Short

Chairman
BioGen Power’s co-founder is a successful property developer and benefits from a background in large-scale residential and commercial property development, with recent projects undertaken for a number of plc organisations. James has experience in all related aspects of property development, including land acquisition, local area planning, negotiating with local authorities, environmental organisations and other related licensing agencies. Having been an early pioneer within the pyrolysis and gasification sector since 2001, James has funded a number of R&D projects, focused on the thermal treatment of a wide variety of wastes types, including tyres, paper pulp and MSW.

Christian Reeve
Christian Reeve, BA. MSc

Chief Executive Officer
Christian boasts a successful business track record at both operational and plc board level, including taking Caffe Nero Group plc to the main London Stock market as Managing Director and previously holding a number of senior management posts within some of the UK’s fastest growing and most successful leisure retail organisations. Past Directorships include Director of Branded Retailing at W&DB plc, Managing Director of Pitcher & Piano and Retail Director at national pub operator JD Wetherspoon plc. Christian has a BA in Economics and an MSc in Strategic Marketing. Christian joined the board of BioGen Power in 2005, having co-founded the business with James Short. Growing companies and managing rapid roll out business strategies, are just two of the valuable skills that Christian has brought to the BioGen organisation.

Michael Darch
Michael Darch

Finance Director
Michael joined BioGen in October 2007. Michael has a wealth of experience gained from senior positions with Unilever, BNFL, BAE Systems and, more recently, building a ‘big ticket’ leasing company in the Middle East, raising both equity and asset finance. Michael has a BSc in Economics and is an FCMA.

Peter Hughes
Peter Hughes

Non-Executive Director
Peter joined BioGen Power in 2006. Peter provides the business with valuable power sector expertise, having previously spent ten years as Managing Director of Powergen International, where he was responsible for Powergen's global operations. Peter is co-founder and a non-executive director of Broadview Energy Limited, a UK onshore wind power development business. He is also a director of two technology companies: Pera International and Ritec Limited.

Andrew MacLellan

Non-Executive Director
Andrew joined the BioGen Power board in January 2008 and is a director of ENER-G Holdings PLC, the parent of Energos, one of our key technology providers.

An engineer by trade and an experienced managing director, Andrew today has a keen focus on the strategic development of the ENER-G group business, having built during his career a broad range of experience in various roles and disciplines; from R&D and project management to marketing and venture capital.

James Bell
Sir Dr James Bell

Chief Technical Officer
James Bell is the chief technical advisor, and is a leading Advanced Conversion Technology (ACT) researcher based in South of Scotland, specialising in gasification, pyrolysis, combustion and microwave pyrolysis technologies, holding patents for advanced bio-fuel and bio-mix burners, microwave pyrolysis and microwave secondary induction. James has been advising BioGen since 2005.

Paul Jenkinson

Non-Executive Director
Paul joined the BioGen Power board in November 2009 and is a senior manager within International Power plc. He is an experienced developer of power projects with some 20 years experience in the power sector. Paul has held a broad range of commercial positions in leading energy companies including BP and National Power.
